The Fifth European International
Conference on Design Management
March 18-20, 2001
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Overview
With new technologies being developed everyday, richer, more complex
experiences are the norm for customers in both the product and service
arenas. These developments, coupled with rapidly changing markets
that create enormous pressures to be the first to take a new product
or service to market, have created a considerable challenge for
any organization wishing to thrive, or simply survive, in the 21st
century. Many individuals and organizations have taken these circumstances
as an imperative for infusing design-based leadership into their
organization for competitive advantage. Consequently, there are
new and weighty responsibilities design managers and their colleagues
must meet. While keeping abreast of new technologies alone has become
a formidable task, applying them requires the collaboration of a
teamwork of disciplines. Creating a successful experience and meeting
the customer's expectation of a product or service are key to customer
loyalty, and design shapes both the expectation and the experience.
This conference will examine effective approaches and methods to
meeting these challenges.
Who Should Attend?
Senior executives from international corporations and consultancies,
as well as academics specializing in design management, are regularly
participating in DMI conferences, realizing the value of this forum.
This network of individuals has in common a high level of responsibility
in their organizations and a wealth of experience they are ready
to share.
This year, the Amsterdam Hilton will provide a congenial conference
atmosphere and convenient location alongside the canal waterways.
This conference is limited to 175.
The guiding principles of every DMI educational conference are
three-fold. First, to provide leading-edge, topical information;
second, to provide participants with an environment that encourages
meaningful and challenging interaction; and third, to ensure the
experience advances the participant's understanding of focus topics
and design management.
