The buzz is all around us and the pressures are real. Yet, most of us notice a lag in integrating better and best sustainability practices in our day-to-day work. Even organizations that are currently recognized as leaders in sustainable practices admit we are only at the first steps of a much longer journey.

One of the primary challenges is structuring information so we can design against it. A systems-based approach provides the tactics and exercises to communicate across teams, develop strategic plans, and identify innovative approaches—all within the context of sustainability. But how can you apply this to your day-to-day work?

Drawing from frog’s own experience and industry-leading case studies, the seminar will explore the context of sustainability throughout the design process. Participants will learn methods for framing problems within their systems and explore how holistic design criteria can deliver new insights that inform portfolio strategy, product development, brand, and marketing activities.

What you will learn:

  • Frameworks to break down the topic of sustainability and environmental design in easy to understand terms

  • How leading organizations approach the challenge of integrating sustainability factors across teams

  • Fundamental forces, organizing principles, and tools for mapping your organization’s activities through the lens of sustainability

  • How sustainable design criteria can provide value in the larger landscape of business planning, CSR reporting, and conformance.

  • New tools to integrate into the product development process, and case studies supporting the value of sustainable design initiatives

  • Reference materials to communicate and advance the workshop lessons within your own company

Who should attend:

This seminar assumes your organization realizes the importance of planning for sustainable design and possibly has some initiatives in place. It will be particularly useful for managers who function between organizational leadership, marketing, design, and research functions of consumer product oriented organizations. They are likely responsible for new product and service development, and foresee the need to address the growing aspects of sustainability in their business.

How you will benefit:

The seminar will be very “hands on,” allowing participants to integrate knowledge of their own organizational cultures and processes, and be empowered to communicate and leverage these tools on their own benefit. You will receive tools that allow you to uniquely translate opportunities and strategies to leadership, while gaining tactical methods for driving innovation and implementing sustainability criteria in the development process.
