DMI NIGHT OUT FAQ

WHAT IS DMI NIGHTOUT?

  • DMI Night out will be held quarterly. Upcoming dates are posted on the Night Out overview page.

  • DMI Night Out is an evening of conversations around a shared topic.

  • Topics are meant to be a conversation starter. It’s up to each host whether or not your Night Out will include a guest speaker presentation, be a work session, a roundtable conversation.

  • Shared your insights with our global community on the DMI website.

WHY HOST DMI NIGHT OUT?

  • Provide a local source of support and partnership for the critical issues facing today's design leaders.

  • Foster community, collaboration and content that informs and inspires.

  • Connect cross-disciplinary design and business leaders in their local communities.

  • Leverage local DMI Night Out to surface and amplify unifiers and differentiators around critical issues, concerns, trends and inspirations relevant to the DMI community.

  • Share DMI experience with potential new members

  • Help expand DMI membership and design leadership reach!

  • Be recognized as a Host of DMI NIGHTOUT at www.dmi.org/nightout

WHO ATTENDS NIGHT OUT?

  • You may invite any number of people in your community in design leadership positions who may or may not be current DMI members. This is a great opportunity to encourage many to join or re-engage with DMI!

  • Night Out can attract 5 people – or, 50 people. Success is measured in quality of conversations!

WHERE DOES NIGHT OUT HAPPEN?

  • Wherever you are based, we’re sure there are design professionals interested in connecting.

  • The location is up to you: at your studio, a bar, a gallery, open space, etc.

  • You may also consider collaborating with another co-host to share the space.

HOW CAN I HOST AN EVENT?

  • Submit your interest to host: dmistaff@dmi.org with "Night Out" in the subject line.

  • Be ready to commit to a proposed date, per our schedule.

  • Coordinate a time and venue (after-work, early evening events are preferred).

  • Reach out to your local community, clients, and interested parties to participate.

  • Provide an agenda of what the outcomes of your NIGHT OUT might entail. Agendas ideas include:

    • Hosting an evening networking reception at your studio or another locale.

    • Hosting a roundtable discussion on a topical theme

    • Hosting a visiting speaker, author, professional for a brief presentation and Q&A, film screening, activity, etc.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN HOSTING A NIGHT OUT?

  • Promote the event to your global network and regional community via your own mailing lists, website, twitter, Facebook, etc.

  • Provide refreshments of your choice.

  • Report findings to DMI headquarters through writing, visual mapping, video, etc. to share with the DMI community.

  • We suggest enlisting your colleagues and local students to help facilitate the evening and content.

WHAT SUPPORT IS PROVIDED BY DMI?

  • DMI Headquarters coordinates, confirms and communicates dates and details to DMI community

  • DMI will promote your Night Out on our website, with dedicated emails, via twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, to your specific communities

  • DMI will provide event rsvp service via EventBrite

  • DMI will provide you with web and print Night Out logos for your marketing and signage

  • DMI will provide you with incentives and marketing collateral for potential new DMI members

  • DMI Headquarters curates content post event and shares on DMI website
